By far the most requested feature on SWIX for a long time has been the ability to track Facebook Fan Pages. Today, we are proud to announce that we now support this feature. Woohoo!

Launching Fan Page support has been something that has been plaguing us for sometime, we knew it was a feature you wanted but getting useful information was not supported by Facebook’s API. Initially we thought about scraping the data from the Facebook Fan Pages but ultimately that is against Facebook’s Terms of Service, so it was kind of the wrong thing to do. Instead the right thing to do, was waiting for better Fan Page support from the Facebook API.

Facebook recently rolled out initial support for Fan Counts (a count of fans on a Facebook Page) so we have launched right away with support for that metric to get everyone started. As other metrics make themselves available we will be working to support those right away as well. In the mean time, we are also investigating ways to bring other metrics such as interactions/day to the Fan Page Tracking Pod. If you have any other suggestions for metrics that you would find useful, please leave a note in the comments.

P.S. Speaking of Fan Pages, you should probably become a fan of SWIX.
