With the World Cup starting today, there’s been hype that has been accruing for ages.  One of the brands that has harnessed this passion for ‘the world’s sport’ is Nike.  As previously mentioned, we’ve been creating SWIX campaigns for several ‘big brands’ and have been following them over a few months. This week, we’re going to take a closer look at Nike.

When looking over their metrics, it was clear that Nike had done something incredible. I’m sure you know what we’re talking about: the ‘Write the Future’ campaign. One of the main drivers were the 11 YouTube spots released between May 15 and May 24.  This included the now infamous three minute feature video, that spotlighted an elite cast of characters from the football world. The video has garnered around 14M views to date.

Here are the results from the Nike YouTube channel which are absolutely incredible. The graphs and data in the post are taken from one month view of Nike, more specifically their NikeFootball YouTube channel.

Over the last month, Nike has seen a 219% increase of views of their YouTube channel.

The popularity of the YouTube spots meant that people didn’t want to miss the next installments, creating a 116% increase is subscriptions to the Nike football channel.

You can definitely see the enormous spike in both graphs starting around the time of the video release, once they started to gain momentum. The rest of Nike’s social media activities remained relatively stable, all showing average increases which you can view here. It seemed as if Nike’s mission was to create a video that acted as the “anthem” for the FIFA World Cup, and they succeeded. This viral video is an absolute giant that has proven social media metric results.
